Taking Bill 96 to Court

Taking Bill 96 to Court

Our intent is to challenge Bill 96 in its entirety!

Taking Bill 96 to Court

On May 31, 2023 – The Task Force undertook an APPLICATION FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW AND DECLARATORY JUDGMENT to SUPERIOR COURT

  • We will challenge Quebec’s attempt to make French supreme over all other rights.
  • Plaintiffs from the general public have come forward and are willing to be in the spotlight for this fight.
  • No other lawsuit has come forward to challenge the law in its entirety from the perspective of English-speaking Quebecers’ individual rights.
  • More on our Strategy and Scope…

On January 17, 2023 – The Task Force undertook an  APPLICATION FOR INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTION.

  • Since Bill 96 encroaches on constitutional and human rights with respect to rights to life, liberty and security; equality; healthcare services; government services; education; employment as well as freedoms of expression and mobility, and freedom from undue state interference, the application has been made for a stay of further implementation.

The stakes are high and there is no political option at hand.  We must fight in court.  Donations from the public are essential. A little from many will add up to a lot.

The Task Force Strategy

Our Strategy

Our strategy will be to argue that Quebec exceeds its constitutional authority:  Bill 96:

  • fundamentally and unilaterally changes the structure of the Canadian federation;
  • creates two classes of Canadian citizens who have different rights and obligations; and
  • overturns the legal status of English in Quebec since the 18th century.
The Task Force Scope

Our Scope

Our scope shall be comprehensive and address the many  serious issues not addressed in other Bill 96 litigations in effect.  Matters we shall address include, but are not limited to:

  • The supreme collective right to the French identify
  • Private or personal communication
  • Official documentation
  • Post-Secondary education
  • Contracts
  • Commercial and business communications
  • The internal administration of businesses
